This is how it started. I started using 1&1 Internet Inc's hosting services not too long ago. It was such a good deal so I signed up a 6 month package with them. The service has been great. I rarely encounter any performance-wise problems as there is not too much traffic to my two sites and the sites were mainly used for my own website design hobbies.
My cousin wanted to start his own website as part of his school project. The problem was he didn't have a credit card to pay for web hosting. 1&1 had a promotion at the time so I lent him my credit card and he paid me back in cash. It was a 6 month contract, dated from Feb 12, to Aug 12, 2007. My cousin set up the account with his own gmail email account and had his own password to the 1&1 administration page.I had my own account and he had his own account with 1&1, but I was getting billed for both. It was as simple as that. At $2.99 a month for 6 months, a charge of $17.94 on my card for my cousin's account.

In Dec'07 I did not wish to renew my domain and did not want to pay for the renewal and domain should have been canceled. But, they are really bad and know how to rob people to make millions out of nothing. They sent me a notice through a collection agency with heavy fines which I paid to clear myself and I called them to cancel my domain name and they confirmed that they will not renew it. My domain was active until 1/24/09 since I paid and last week I started to transfer it to Godaddy.com but It has been a week they are not releasing the domain and assuring me that gaining registrar is not taking it away which I know they are lying. Despite cancelling my domain last year I got a renewal invoice again today and forcefully asking me pay for domain which was canceled last year. Is there anyone who we shall complain about the fraudulent practices adopted by 1and1.com which in turns causing big hardships to individuals? This company should be penalized by the court and they should pay back the money to people to compensate for charging them forcefully.
I am having the same trouble with this Company Since December 2008 even though I have canceled my account They will not give me an authorization dode to complete my transfer to godaddy keep telling me to log in to admin for code I cannot log in to Admin as it is Canceled!! Now I have an invoice from them asking for money for additional Domains I have never activated and for their Website builder plus 3 months Why would I want any of this? I have Canceled! I have sent back an email today asking them to issue the authorization code to me and telling them I am not paying for additional domains and their website builder plus which is Rubbish anyway, as it is so difficult to understand for a novice and I only had the basic website builder anyway. I still cannot publish /transfer my site and domain properly because of this and I am paying godaddy for some thing I cannot use because of 1 and 1.
I have also been scammed by this company. They have recently stole money from my account which caused me to go overdrawn meaning that I now have to fork out bank charges on top of the money 1and1 stole from me!
Some friends and I have decided to set up a series of Blogs and Social Network groups to try and prevent others falling prey to the deceptive practices of this little know corporation.

I charged back on my credit card and red flagged them as they continued to bill me even after several cancellations. After the chargeback they sent me to a collection agency, who harassed me for quite some time, disappeared for 1.5 years and are now back again. I pray for the quick and painful demise of this company!!! Word of warning - stay away from 1and1 internet hosting or you will be sorry.
